Abstract:

At the foundation of the Greek state in 1830, educational institutions like those of Western Europe were created : primary and secondary schools, a military school, a university, a technical school. Later an observatory will also be created. Education and science became then a State affair and the acquisition of scientific instruments too. The paper presents the main scientific instrument acquisitions during the 19th century.
